Tailbone pain, or as it is more formally known, coccyx pain (coccydynia) is immensely prevalent in populations with sedentary occupations. Tailbone pain (Coccyx)

The specific cause of coccyx pain can be hard to pinpoint, however, it usually occurs due to the following:

  • Specific trauma to the tailbone region
  • Childbirth
  • Prolonged sitting on a hard surface
  • Tumour or infection in the coccyx region

What do I do if I suffer from tailbone pain?

Sitting can become painful with Tailbone pain, making it difficult to get through the day at work. The good news is this pain can be alleviated by finding the right coccyx cushion or seat wedge to suit you. Coccyx cushions or seat wedges assist in pain relief by taking the pressure off the coccyx region.

These products all have a cut-out directly below the tailbone. This relocates the pressure away from the coccyx. They also provide support for the pelvis and lumbar spine. These cushions & wedges can be used in the car, at work, at home & even in wheelchairs. With the assistance of one of these products, you can sit comfortably for extended periods of time.

Other methods of dealing with coccyx pain include the following:

  • Applying ice to the region several times a day
  • Chiropractic adjustments
  • Stretching the ligaments attached to the coccyx
